My Evening Routine

Monday, February 15th, 2021

An evening routine allows you to finish the day strong and positions you for a productive tomorrow. I learned this concept from the book The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. The author ushers in the idea of structuring your day and maximizing your time with bookends. Think of a traditional bookshelf loaded with books.  There is a bookend on the left and a bookend on the right, with all the books standing tall in-between. You can do the same with your day. Create a bookend in the morning and other bookend in the evening, to help hold your day together. My evening routine is not timed stamped like my morning routine, but here is what I do before bed, in this order. Stretch I use an App on my phone called GOWOD. I have the paid version and it helps improve my mobility (a.k.a flexibility in joints/muscle tissue).⁣⁣ I do 15 minute sessions and after 10 hours of combined time (40 days x 15 mins), I am seeing healthy improvement. +20% progress!⁣⁣ The App is nicely designed and user friendly. Side note, my wife (Amanda) prefers the Peloton stretching classes with are fantastic, too. Clothes I layout what I am wearing to workout in the morning and what I am wearing to work. It may sound elementary but it is true. It is one less thing I have to do/think about in my morning and it is an easy win before I call it a night. Read I have an old school Kindle which works great (the newer version looks cool, too). I don’t read business books before bed, otherwise, it will keep me up brewing new ideas. I prefer Christian books as I doze off to dream land. Do you have an evening routine? I would love to hear about it….

How to Speak Live in a Pandemic

Sunday, February 14th, 2021

I spoke at my first LIVE event since the pandemic began and it was amazing! The extrovert in me was thrilled to be around human beings again and it was glorious to be back on stage. There was a coordinated effort by everyone involved (event planners, conference center staff, attendees, etc.) to host a safe and successful in-person event! Here is how it worked so you too can have the confidence (and plan) to get back to live/in-person events A.S.A.P. 1. The attendees had the ability to attend in-person or virtually. The event was originally scheduled in late March, but we all know what happened… We tentatively re-scheduled for June and had to move it again to August 21, 2020. This was the 29th year for the NLF so they had good data on expected attendance. Pre-covid, the estimated attendance was going to be around 175 people. On our event day, we had roughly 120 people (70%) attend in-person. The remaining 30% attended virtually. 2. Tables of four instead of tables of eight. The circular tables that decorate conference rooms (you know what I’m talking about) traditionally seat eight people. On our event day, they cut it in half. Four people at a table instead of eight. The seating was 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock. The elbow room was great and it made life easier for the conference center staff to bus each table. 3. Masks were required, until… Everyone had to wear a mask until they took their seat at their table. If you had to get up to go to the restroom, take a call outside, etc. you had to put your mask back on. Some people chose to put their masks back on after eating. From the stage, I would say 25% of…

Where My Family Buys Bitcoin: Our Go-To Platform and Why

Saturday, February 6th, 2021

Over the years, my family has purchased Bitcoin on several exchanges and we’ve learned that two features are absolutely critical to us: low fees and ease of use. Why Fees and Ease Matter Since we use a dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategy to build our family’s Bitcoin position, we want the lowest fees possible. Over time, even small fee differences can significantly impact your returns. We also prioritize a user-friendly experience, especially with the ability to automate our Bitcoin purchases. A clear dashboard and intuitive tools save time and reduce frustration, making it easier to stay consistent with our investment plan. Our Recommendation: River Financial The best way we’ve found to accumulate Bitcoin through automatic recurring buys is River Financial. Use this link to create an account on River Financial and we can both earn up to $100. Here’s why we recommend River Financial: Automatic Recurring Buys River makes it simple to set up daily, weekly, or monthly automatic Bitcoin purchases. This feature is crucial because timing the market is incredibly difficult. Emotional decisions often lead to buying when prices are high (greed) and selling when prices are low (fear). With a daily recurring buy, my family steadily grows our Bitcoin position without the stress of market timing. Dollar-cost averaging smooths out price volatility over time, helping you build your Bitcoin stack more consistently. Auto-Withdrawal to a Secure Wallet One of the most important rules of Bitcoin investing is never leave your Bitcoin on an exchange. River Financial offers an auto-withdrawal feature that sends Bitcoin to your secure wallet automatically once you hit a preset threshold. This ensures your Bitcoin is safely stored in a wallet you control. Why River Financial Works for Us River Financial offers a seamless way to accumulate Bitcoin with low fees and top-notch automation tools. It’s…

Can You Hear Me Now? YES!

Thursday, February 11th, 2021

Audio has become life over the past year (yes many will argue this was true before) but this is on a whole world scale. We have had phones in our pockets for over two decades but yet we are struggling to be heard clearly. Communication will fail if both parties can’t be heard and that means our livelihood could fail. I am not having that amount of importance riding on my laptop’s microphone. So, I went virtual shopping for a few hours. I knew I needed something simple to use that looks professional. There were so many options from new inventions to old wired mics, but I found the one that is perfect. It has the quality of a wired mic, the sleekness of a television production house and you don’t have to download an App. Just plug it in and go live on calls or video. Don’t fight tech anymore to be heard. Have confidence in your mic to perform alongside you at a high quality. This product is fantastic and has solved my audio issues without any hassle and it can solve yours.

Let Light Into Your Virtual Meeting

Friday, February 12th, 2021

It has been dark times as of recently but you can’t hold the human race back. Great entrepreneurs and manufacturers are out here forging tools to improve our abilities to persist, and now a year later we get to see some new ideas come through. This gadget is so bright it will lead the way into great looking meetings. But the best feature is how mobile it is. I can close my whole hand around it but it has twice the strength of my old ring light that was 17”.  I have been using this routinely since the exciting buy. So try it, everything looks better when you shed some light on it and it doesn’t break the bank.

Scout Quinn, the Best Dog Ever

Tuesday, August 7th, 2018

If you have ever had an animal that you treated like a human, then you know how extremely tough and painful it can be to put your pet to sleep. Two years ago we found out our boxer (Scout) had cancer in her nose. Long story short, we ended up doing radiation treatment for her at Texas A&M University to help her fight cancer and to extend her life. We are so thankful for our vet locally, Dr. Lollie Mensik of Country Creek Animal Hosptial and to the vets at Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital for all the help and treatments for Scout. We are so thankful for the extra time we were able to spend with Scout! Amanda and I are also grateful for modern medicine and the continued research and development in this field. While the treatment destroyed cancer the first go around, it ultimately came back. Amanda and I had to make a decision you never want to make last month. We loved Scout so much — we still do! She was an amazing boxer. Seriously the best dog in the world. We had so much fun hanging out with her. She was such a joy to be around all the time. We miss her so much! Here are a few of our favorite pictures which will give you an idea on how awesome of a dog/human she really was! We love you, Scout!
